SUMMER MISSION'S REPORT HANNAH MEEKS
Dear Friends and Family, I know my mom already sent out an email to many of you letting you know how our mission trip to the Navajo in Arizona went. I just wanted to send my own note thanking you for your support and encouragement as we prepared for the trip, and for your prayer as we were on the trip. It was definitely felt. Just like my mom, I still can't believe how drama free the trip was, considering it was with 17 girls! As with every mission trip I've been on, I felt more blessed than I could have expected, despite the fact that we were the ones going to do the blessing. I do think that the Christians that we ministered to were blessed by us, and we saw a lot of encouraging things on the trip. 35 kids at the VBS prayed to receive Jesus! We pray now that the seeds that were planted will have a chance to grow and that there will be more mature Christians on the reservation to share the gospel with there fellow American Indians. We also visited an amazing Christian Navajo woman named Margaret. She is in her 90's (apparently she doesn't really know her exact age) and she lives in the middle of nowhere by herself. She herds sheep and also has a few cows and mules that she takes care of. When we got there and she saw us, she started crying and said that she was so happy we were there because she's been so lonely. Most of us girls started crying too...we prayed for her and she prayed for us in Navajo (that's all she speaks). We helped clean her living area and took her out to dinner. We had quite an adventure with trying to herd her sheep into a corral. Some of the girls ran out into the desert as it was getting dark and we could hear coyotes in the background. We had some nervous moments while our leaders went out in the van to look for them, but they all came back safe. We left soon after that, but some of us girls wanted to stay there with her! We obviously couldn't, but it broke our hearts to drive away, leaving her sitting there by herself in the dark. That was definitely the most touching experience we had. She taught us about having faith in God and finding strength in Him despite the circumstances. Anyways, overall the trip was amazing and a lot of us would love to go back. It was the first mission trip for a lot of the girls, and now a lot of them are ready to hop on a plane to Guyana in South America next summer as well! I would ask that you would pray for me this summer. I'm having some big changes in my life...moving to Orlando, starting a new job at the Edgewood Children's Ranch, and starting graduate school at Palm Beach Atlantic (Orlando Campus). I am trying to decide what God wants me to do as far as missions over winter break and next summer. There are a lot of opportunities! Thank you again for your prayers and support. I'd love to hear from any of you. Love in Christ, Hannah
